Lana Swancey is a one year old little girl who recently received a cutting-edge medical treatment to sustain her life. She was born a healthy baby girl but began to fall behind in her developmental stages around two months of age. When she was four and a half months old, she was diagnosed with Canavan disease, a fatal neuro-degenerative disease. Her parents were told by the doctors to take her home and enjoy her because she would probably not see her first birthday.

Through prayer her family was able to gather enough strength to start fighting for Lana and found that although this is a rare genetic disease, there are a group of parents who have funded the research that has been proven to stop the progression of the disease through gene therapy.

This past June three children underwent the surgery that involved injecting the brain with billions of viruses that carried the missing gene needed for normal functioning. The clinical trials are going to start again this spring and Lana's family is in need of funding  to guarantee her receiving this treatment to preserve her life.
